Affairs in the Consulting Room - managing the therapist's judgemental self
When a patient brings betrayal to the clinician we are often the 'third' to know about the relationship, outside the couple. How can we think about affairs in the same way we think about other dilemmas that our patients bring? What do we do with our own 'super-ego' ish feelings about 'cheating' to enable us to meet the patient without preconceptions?
This hour long seminar will explore how we can begin to think about this very common behaviour in a more open way, to understand the roots of infidelity and the often infantile roots that cause people to put themselves - and others in such jeopardy.
